Jaws (SOFT), 6" Lathe Chuck

Bored these out to hold a batch of bearing housings and runout stayed under a thou all afternoon. The 5/16 screw holes lined up perfectly with my existing top jaws, no reaming needed. For finishing work these hold concentricity way better than the hard jaws I was fighting with before.

Swapped these soft jaws onto my 6" chuck for a batch of finish turning and the concentricity is dead on, maybe a thou runout at most. The 5/16 screw holes lined up perfectly with my existing top jaws. I'll probably harden them once they start wearing.

Bored these out to hold a weird cast aluminum housing and the concentricity on the finish pass was dead on. The 5/16 screw holes lined up with my existing top jaws without any fiddling. Soft enough to machine easily, though I'll probably harden them once I settle on a final profile.
