Finally got around to threading some mild steel with this tap and the 17/64" drill bit paired together perfectly - no steps needed, just one pass. The flutes cleared chips clean and the threads came out crisp.

The M8x1.25 tap cut through the aluminum on my lathe like butter, and the 17/64" drill bit made a perfect pilot hole without any chatter. I'm really pleased with how clean the threads are for mounting my collet chuck.

I used the 17/64" drill bit first and it made the perfect pilot hole, then the M8 tap threaded smoothly through stainless steel without binding. This set saved me from buying two separate pieces.
