Took my time with the drilling and tapping since the 9 holes need to be precise, but the casting is so well-machined that everything lined up perfectly with my lathe’s existing bolt pattern. The M3, M6, and M8 taps I had on hand worked cleanly, and now the bed extension feels rock solid. Definitely

The casting is already true and flat, so after the 9 holes were drilled and tapped it lined up with my lathe bed without any shimming. Having the M3, M6, and M8 tap sizes spelled out saved me from guessing. I’ve got a solid, rigid extension now.

Took my time drilling and tapping the 9 holes with the M3, M6, and M8 taps, and the casting fits my mini lathe perfectly, feels rock solid during use. Adding the extension was straightforward, and now I have a lot more room for longer workpieces without chatter.
