Finally got around to replacing the original screw on my mini lathe, and the 1 mm thread pitch makes tuning the cross slide incredibly precise. The 0.040" advance per turn is exactly what I needed for consistent cuts.

The 40-division dial lines up perfectly with the 1mm pitch, so each mark gives me exactly 0.040" of travel without any mental math. I swapped out the old screw and the cross slide moves buttery smooth now, zero backlash that I can feel.

The 1mm pitch is spot on, so my dial’s 40 divisions now give me exact 0.0394" moves without any guesswork. Fit onto the cross slide was clean and the machining feels solid. I’m glad I swapped this in.
