It took me a few tries to get it initially positioned, but once seated properly, it holds the mill head exactly where I leave it—no drifting at all. The damping on the way down is smooth and controlled, which makes single-handed operation actually workable.

Smooth lift and hold on the X3's head assembly — the damping is dead-on, no sudden drops or jerky motion. My only gripe is the install took a bit of fiddling, but the fit was precise and it's been flawless since.
