This thing presses right against the ways and actually catches the fine chips before they get dragged under. My saddle moves noticeably smoother on the front pass now.

Installed this on my 12" lathe and it fits perfectly, snug against the ways without any trimming. The felt is thick enough to catch fine swarf before it gets under the saddle. Exactly what I needed to keep the ways clean during long runs.

Snapped right onto the saddle of my old Atlas and the fit is dead on. The felt catches fine swarf that used to work its way under there and gum up the ways. Two minutes to swap, cheap insurance for the leadscrew.
