Complete plans to build a simple steam engine.

These steam engine project plans were created by Bill Reichart.

The Pip-Squeak was designed to be a very first, easy to build engine. It is built from bar stock. No castings are required. It can be made on a small hobby lathe and a small drill press. A small milling machine helps, but isn't necessary.

Violet W. ★★★★★

I was pleasantly surprised by how clear the bar stock list is, it made gathering materials straightforward even for a beginner. The engine fired up on my third attempt and runs steadily at a surprisingly low air pressure.

Edward F. ★★★★★

The instructions for the steam engine are laid out so simply that I had my basic frame cut and drilled in one afternoon. Bill Reichart really achieved his “first, easy to build” goal with the bar stock list. I’m already sketching a mount for it.

Avery U. ★★★★★

I was pleasantly surprised how clear the instructions are for a beginner like me. The bill of materials was spot-on, and the engine actually ran on the first try after I followed the assembly steps.
