ER-40 筒夾最大直徑為 1.62 英吋（41.15 公釐），長度為 1.81 英吋（46 公釐）。其夾持範圍為 1/8 英吋至 1 英吋（3.0 公釐至 26.0 公釐）。

ER筒夾由高級工具鋼製成，經硬化處理並研磨至緊密公差。開縫設計使筒夾能在特定夾持範圍內依需求膨脹與收縮，以穩固夾持刀具或工件。
*筒夾必須先組裝至筒夾夾頭螺母中，再插入筒夾夾頭。
