I work with a lot of different materials, and this plug tap cut through some tough stainless steel without any chatter or binding. The 3-5 chamfered lead made starting the thread clean and easy.

The chamfered plug design really does the work for you—three passes and the tap pulled through a block of stainless without chattering once. Threads came out clean and consistent, exactly what I needed for a repair job.

Used these in a 4130 steel bracket and the plug style cut through clean without grabbing at the bottom. The three to five chamfered threads really help start the cut straight.
